Who We Are

NPS Associates brings a wade variety of people to a project as needed. We work with specialists in many fields including:


Nathaniel Polish, Ph.D.

Nathaniel Polish, Ph.D. has founded and managed several high technology companies specializing in the development and manufacturing of portable computer products. Dr. Polish has also served as a consultant to the computer industry for over fifteen years, with clients ranging from small entrepreneurial start-up companies to Fortune 500 corporations. In conjunction with his consulting work, Dr. Polish has provided electronic and computer development services for a wide range of companies and products. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science, specializing in Computer Speech, from Columbia University in 1993.

James Lo, Associate

James Lo has provided hardware and software design and implementation services for NPS Associates. He has worked with development teams on RF identification systems, humidity sensor support circuitry and medical research equipment as well as the development of portable hard drives. He is also a composer who has created interactive sound installations which have been shown at the Germans Van Eck gallery and The Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. James Lo has worked as an audio electronics consultant, working for the Philip Glass Ensemble Studio. He has built custom electronic devices that enhance audio and control kinetic sculpture.

Joseph A. Schwartz, Associate

Joseph A. Schwartz is a software development engineer who specializes in Microsoft Windows solutions. Recent applications were developed in environments such as Visual C++ with Microsoft Foundation Classes, Borland C++ with Object Windows Libraries, and Visual Basic. He began working with DOS and Windows as a general research assistant and programmer in an astrophysics laboratory. He then became a full-time musician, mostly travelling on the eastern club circuits. After a number of cross-country trips, he returned to programming as a developer of database solutions and general Windows consultant. More recently, he assisted in the design and installation of a small commercial online service in Zimbabwe.

Benjamin Peikes, Associate

Mark Intrieri, Associate

Mark Intrieri is a software design engineer. Previously, he worked for Princeton Consultants, Inc. where he participated in the reengineering and development of systems for a large trucking company and a large insurance company. He hold a BE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. While studying at Penn, he worked in University's Computing and Educational Technology Services department where he managed computing resources and staff. During his summers, he works as a Technical Operations Intern for Merck.

Parallax Webdesign, Inc.

Parallax Webdesign is a WWW design firm focusing on the intersection of art and science. Jeanne Muller, President, is a Yale graduate, who has been a New York film and television producer for the past nine years. She has produced projects ranging from tabletop shoots for Viacom and Swatch to live events with crowds of thousands, helicopters and boats for Sony and Polygram. Founding partner, Michael Johngren, is a Columbia graduate with experience in African anthropology, sound design and music composition.
